TUCSON, Ariz. — Sophomore Dave Jensen of BYU is one of two players from the Mountain West Conference to be named to the Louisville Slugger All-American team released Friday.
Jensen, a first baseman, and relief pitcher Royce Ring were named to the third-team All-American squad by Collegiate Baseball magazine.
Jensen, who was selected as MWC Co-Player-of-the-Year, currently ranks 22nd in the latest NCAA statistics for his 26 doubles, averaging 0.44 per game.
The native of Henderson, Nev., is the 24th baseball player at BYU to be selected as an All-American. Earlier this season he was selected as a Verizon District VIII All-Academic member.
Former Cougar pitcher Jeremey Guthrie, who transferred to Stanford,
was selected to the Louisville Slugger First-Team.
