NEPHI - Frank Fowkes Parkin, age 85, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away June 21, 2002 from natural causes in Nephi, Utah.
He was born Aug 18, 1916, in Nephi, UT to George Herbert and Lucy Isabelle Fowkes Parkin. He married Ellen Valeria Coombs in Fountain Green, UT in 1941. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Valeria died Feb 2, 1959. He married Veda Merkley Dec 28, 1959 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Frank was a lifetime resident of Nephi. He will be remembered for his kindness, patience, loving nature and entertaining little songs he used to perform at family gatherings. He was a hard worker and dedicated to his family. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the 4th Ward bishopric as well as many other callings.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Veda Parkin; sons, Fred (Marsha) Parkin, Frank Carl (Maria) Parkin, Douglas (Kathy) Court; daughters, Ellen (Darrell) Larsen, Angela (David) Russmussen, Judy (Lynn) Greenhalgh, Jan Clevery; sister, Beth (Don) Christiansen; 29 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tues. June 25, 2002, Nephi 5th Ward chapel, 345 E. 500 N. Friends may call Mon. 6-8 p.m., Anderson Funeral Home, 94 W. 300 N, and at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, UT.
