ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A reputed Gambino crime family captain and 13 others were arrested on charges they took part in a gambling operation that authorities say netted some $3 million a year.

The suspects, including Joseph "Sonny" Juliano, 65, of Brooklyn, were arrested early Tuesday in New York City and hauled upstate for arraignment. The arrests resulted from a two-year gambling investigation.

Investigators said about 90 "runners" took bets based on state lottery daily numbers and racetrack handle totals for the New York City numbers-running ring.
