Died peacefully at her home Saturday morning of causes incident to a recurrence of breast cancer, surrounded by her family. She passed valiantly from this earth with an abiding faith in a loving Heavenly Father and an atoning Savior. Her heart and her greatest pleasures were found in her four children J. Scott and his wife Angie Briggs, Gideon, Charlie and Betsy.
Shelly was born in Salt Lake City, UT June 7, 1955 to Wayne L. and Phyllis Olsen Sandberg and was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1973, later attending BYU and U of U where she majored in Design. She married Jeffery S. Briggs in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, 1977. They resided briefly in Denver, CO and returned to Salt Lade City to open Designer Textiles, 1981. They later divorced and Shelly continued the successful operation of the business until her illness and untimely death. Shelly was a great people person, she loved operating the store, meeting and working with her customers and valued employees, but most of all, forging lasting relationships with extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne L. Sandberg, and sis-ter, Susan Sandberg Johnson. She is survived by her children; dear mother, Phyllis Olsen Sandberg; sister, Sondra Sandberg Taylor (Bob), Great Falls, VA; brother, W. Gary Sandberg (Darcy); brother-in-law, Kent F. Johnson (Susan); sister, Sherrill Sandberg; many beloved nieces and nephews; and trusted dog (Boots).
Services will be Fri. April 4, 2003 12 noon LDS Stake Center, 1830 E. 6400 S, Holladay, UT. Friends may call Thurs. April 3, 6-8 p.m. Wasatch Lawn Mortuary chapel, 3401 Highland Dr, and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park directly following the funeral.
