1961 ~ 2003

NORTH OGDEN <! > - Robert Michael Dunkley, 42, passed through the veil September 16, 2003. His only regret was that he had to leave his beloved wife, Jerri and their four children, Emily (17), Jordan (14), Mary (11) and Ethan (5).

Michael was born in Ogden, Utah on July 10, 1961. He was reared in Taylorsville, Utah and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1979.

He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Scotland, Edinburgh Mission where he grew to love the land and the people.

Michael married Jerri Eborn in the Logan Temple in 1984.

Michael graduated from Brigham Young University in 1985 with a degree in Design Manufacturing and Engineering. He had worked in various locations; Sunnyvale, California; Seattle, Washington; and finally in Promontory, Utah for Thiokol (ATK).

He enjoyed serving as Elders Quorum president and as Executive Secretary in a bishopric, but he loved his last calling as an assistant Priest's Advisor where he had served for the past 18 months.

During the last eight years of his life, Michael became an dedicated runner. He and Jerri consistently trained, then ran six times in the St. George Marathon. He began his last race 18 months ago with two obstacles; a malignant brain tumor and a stroke which had paralyzed his left side. He and Jerri ran this race together with discipline, great faith, hard work, commitment and courage, but the finish line was different than he had hoped.

He is survived by his wife and children. Also surviving are his parents, W. Robert Dunkley and Karen Goff Dunkley of Taylorsville; his brothers, Matthew (Bobbie Ann), Las Vegas, NV and Nathan (Beverly), Denver, CO; his sister Elizabeth (Brian) Jones, Cleveland, OH; his grandparents Milton and Velma Goff of Pleasant View; as well as nieces, nephews, loving aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins.
