Don Russon Holbrook, age 80, of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2004 in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born April 1, 1924 in West Point, Utah, graduated from Davis County High School and attended Weber State College. It was there in West Point he married Zora Irene Block in 1946 and continued work with the family farm. Don and Zora moved to Mission, Texas with their two young sons in 1955. He began a citrus grove management company and also involved himself with dry land farming and land leveling. Over the years he became active in real estate and leasing his warehouse properties.

Don was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was honored as King Citrus of the Texas Citrus Fiesta in 1965. He was also a member of the Mission Rotary Club and served as president in 1973.

Don and Zora moved to Kerrville, Texas in 1984 to begin their retirement years and then moved to Fair Oaks Ranch in 1995. Don spent his retirement years enjoying golf and making new friends and sharing his time and talents with his beloved neighbors.

Those who will most miss his loving and fun ways are his devoted wife of 57 years, Zora, his sons Gregg and Dennis, daughters-in-law Virgie and Lynda, six grandchildren and their spouses, Summer (Wes Wadle) and Nicholas, and Russon (Emily), Loryn (Jason Clark), Denae (Robbie Jenkins), and Kaylee. Don will be deeply missed also by his surviving sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Carmen Pearson, his brother and sister-in-law, J and June Holbrook, and sister-in-law Beverly Holbrook and many more family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamoni Cook and Myrtle Russon Holbrook, his brothers L. Dale and Glenn Holbrook, and his sister Grace.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah, where friends may visit with the family Thursday evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Friday for one hour prior to the services. Interment: Bountiful City Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 16, at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Boerne, Texas. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to one's favorite charity.
