Art Pina, former president of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the UHCC's recently elected treasurer, has been named president of the Utah Hispanic Business Leadership Foundation, a non-profit organization providing scholarships to Hispanic applicants who wish to further their education. The foundation also will provide counseling, training and financing to Hispanic business owners.
The Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has elected its new board of directors. Robert Rendon (not pictured), vice president and director for community reinvestment at Zions Bank, was named chairman. Arlene Urias, station manager for Univision, was elected vice chairwoman. Kathy Ricci, executive director of the Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund, will serve as secretary. Joe Reyna, deputy mayor of Ogden City and treasurer of the Ogden Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (a UHCC affiliate), was named chairman-elect. The UHCC includes more than 225 members and 24 corporate partners.
Big-D Construction has named Chris Grzybowski senior project manager. Grzybowski has nearly 11 years of experience in the industry. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading Big-D's large-scale commercial, health care, educational and retail construction projects. Grzybowski is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay.
Leah Krueger was named branch broker and manager for the Cottonwood office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. Krueger has worked in the real estate industry for more than 25 years and has experience in sales, training and relocation services.
The Utah Sports Commission, a statewide organization working to attract major sporting events and competitions to Utah, appointed four new members to its executive committee. The new committee members are Bob Bonar, president and chief operating officer of Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort; Robert H. Garff, chairman and chief executive officer of Garff Enterprises Inc., the parent company for the Ken Garff Automotive Group; David E. Simmons, president and chief executive officer of Simmons Media Group, Western Broadcasting and Crestwood Communications Inc., which own and operate radio stations and outdoor advertising structures in Utah, Idaho, New Mexico and Texas; and Richard Walje, ranking executive for PacifiCorp's business in Utah. Walje oversees corporate business services and is Group Chief Information Officer for PacifiCorp.
Jason Suker has joined the media department of the Salt Lake office of Riester-Robb Advertising and Public Relations. Suker is a graduate of Westminster College. Riester-Robb is a communications and marketing company headquartered in Phoenix.
Chris Coons, regional vice president of Intermountain Health Care's urban south region, has been elected to serve as chairman of the board of trustees of the Utah Hospitals and Health Systems Association. Coons also serves as vice president of IHC's Home Care Services division. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University and California Coast University.
Stan Postma has joined the Salt Lake office of Montgomery, Watson, Harza as principal engineer, where he will be responsible for large project management and business development. Postma has 31 years of engineering experience. He is a licensed professional engineer, structural engineer and land surveyor in Utah and a graduate of the University of Utah.
KCSG Television has promoted Timo Saarelainen to station manager. Saarelainen will be responsible for station sales, marketing, promotions, programming and budgeting. A BYU graduate, Saarelainen has 18 years of broadcast television sales and management experience.
Richard Fisher will retire as Washington Federal Savings' Utah division manager effective June 30, after 37 years in the financial services industry. During his tenure at Washington Federal, Fisher served as operations department manager of the Utah division and then Utah division manager. Marlise Fisher has been named manager of the division. Marlise Fisher joined Washington Federal in 1993 as branch manager. She has 17 years of banking experience.
The Utah Privatization Board, which provides a forum for the private sector to raise issues of unfair government competition, has elected Ramona Rudert as chairwoman. Rudert, a Salt Lake business owner, succeeds Jim Kesler, who held the position for the last eight years.
NuSkin Enterprises Inc. has appointed Allen Andersen to the company's board of directors. Andersen is a managing director of PAMA Group, one of Asia's oldest private equity firms. He is a graduate of Harvard University.
Stanley Consultants has promoted Bob Jacobs to chief transportation engineer. Jacobs joined the company in 1988 and is currently manager of the engineering operations group in Stanley's Salt Lake office. He is a graduate of Lafayette College and Carnegie-Mellon University.
U.S. Bank has promoted Doug Hesse to senior vice president for commercial banking at U.S. Bank in Utah. Hesse is a graduate of the U., Pacific Coast Banking School and the American Bankers Association Commercial Lending Graduate School. U.S. Bank also announced three new hires. Darin Moss, Rick Mockbee and Ken Doutre have joined the bank's small-business banking team.
Gold Systems Inc. has promoted Chris Allen to vice president of Web application development. Formerly a practice manager, Allen will be responsible for overseeing business opportunities in Web application development marketing. He joined Gold Systems 10 months ago.
