1939 ~ 2004
KAYSVILLE<! >
- Wayne Folkman Palmer was born Sept. 5, 1939, in Ogden, Utah, the fourth of six children to G. Lyle and Josephine Folkman Palmer. He passed from this mortal life on June 1, 2004.
Wayne grew up in South Ogden. He graduated from Weber High School in 1957 and from the University of Utah in 1965. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Southern California from 1959 - 1961.
He married Lola Hooten on Dec. 15, 1961, in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of five children: KymberLee (John) Schaper of Georgia; Holly (Andy) Keck of Layton; Heidi (Mark) Pehrson of Kaysville; Gregory (Melanie) Palmer of Layton; and Angee Jo (Roger) Gardiner of Kaysville. He is the proud grandpa to 13 grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers J. Lyle (Jean) Palmer, George (Karen) Palmer, Gary (Shirley) Palmer, sister Mary Lou (Carl) Hassell. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and sister Linda (Mrs. Lynn) McClure.
He was employed at Kennecott Copper, IHC, and Associated Food Stores as a programmer and then as a Director of Data Processing. He also was a partner and co-founder of PH Medical Billing. He was an excellent provider whether working 8 to 5 or in pursuit of his many business
adventures.
Wayne served the Lord in word and deed. He was an example of physical and spiritual strength as he served his Heavenly Father, his family, and his neighbors. He had endless enthusiasm, energy and love for life. He never grew weary of hard work or hard play. He enjoyed designing and building homes, running marathons, playing basketball, biking, skiing, boating, being in his home and yard, but his greatest love was being with his family.
Wayne taught us all to love and laugh. He wanted everyone to be happy and many of his greatest moments were spent laughing and joking with his siblings and his children. His happy laugh could often be heard above the crowd as he found humor in life and joy in being alive.
He was totally devoted to his Heavenly Father, his Savior, and his family. How happy Wayne must be to be free from his physical limitations and again be himself.
