A Texas woman is dead and her boyfriend in custody following an encounter in Arches National Park on Tuesday night.
Rhonda A. Rosenbalm, 34, of Seabrook, Texas, was allegedly hit by a car driven by her boyfriend, 26-year-old James Ricky Cunningham Jr. of Richwood, Texas, near the Moab Fault overlook just after 8:30 p.m.
Three other people who reportedly tried to help Rosenbalm were injured when Cunningham allegedly used his car to push their car off the road. The car dropped 15 to 20 feet, according to Arches Superintendent Laura Joss.
The sequence of events of when Rosenbalm was killed and the others pushed over the side were unknown Tuesday. The Grand County Sheriff's Office released a short statement but had no other comment Tuesday regarding details of the case.
Cunningham was booked into the Grand County Jail for investigation of criminal homicide, a first-degree felony, three counts of second-degree attempted homicide, first-degree felony DUI, third-degree felony aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence and several traffic infractions.
