Zane Armond Doyle 1916 ~ 2005 Zane Armond Doyle passed away on December 11th in his home with his family around him. He was born on February 17, 1916 to Zephyr and Michael Doyle in Ogden, Utah. Zane was a devoted husband and father. He married Thelma the, love of his life on July 29th, 1937 in the Logan Temple, after courting her since the 6th grade. They worked together and enjoyed each other for their 52 years of marriage. Zane loved the outdoors; fly fishing and gardening were his specialties. Carving bears in his later life provided much enjoyment for himself and others, as well as many trips to the emergency room. Zane visited Brighton in the early 40's on a ski trip and he set out on a career that eventually led to the development of Brighton Ski Resort. Zane was one of the pioneers of the Utah Ski Industry and guided the development of Brighton Ski Resort from 1943 - 1987. He was inducted into the Intermountain Ski Hall of fame in 2002 and later received the SJ Quinney Award for contributions to skiing in the Intermountain West from the University of Utah J. Willard Marriot Library. Needless to say, Zane loved the mountains, his customers and his many employees. He always took pride in working in an industry that provided fun for people, and often said that if not for the help of his many friends he could not have made a go of it. He will be missed by those friends, both young and old who had the privilege of knowing this tough old mountain man. He is survived by two daughters CarolLynn (Don) Palmer and Nanette (Laury) Bullock, sons Michael (Jane), Randy (Debbie), sisters Donna McClain and Pat Burt, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma, daughter Bonnie and brother Sherman and sister June. Zane often bragged about having a Jeanie and a Pixie! Thank you both for being there for him, and thanks to the doctors and nurses of Care Source for their kindness. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity. Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 15th 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Chapel, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment was in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
