I paused in reading the letter from Jonathan Morrison (Forum, Dec. 1) in regard to his objections to the CP80 initiative. The unfettered proliferation of pornography has allowed these purveyors to continually erode the moral fiber of our society. It has allowed them to deploy tricks to ensnare the unsuspected. I want the choice of not having to navigate that minefield.
The education of our children is certainly appropriate. However, as a parent it's not only my responsibility to teach my children, it is also my duty to provide a safe environment for them. Just as I wouldn't want my children to be inadvertently injected with an addictive drug, I don't want them inadvertently exposed to addictive, degrading images. The CP80 solution does not affect anyone who wishes to view "questionable content." Apathy beats morality and advocacy beats apathy. Technology can be used to our benefit in a legislative manner.
