Bountiful's original Val Verda Arch was built by the area's founder, V.A. Bettilyon, near 3100 S. Orchard Drive in 1917. By 1961, the steel arch had letters that were lighted, right. The current arch, below left, rebuilt in 1983 after a truck knocked down the original, no longer completely spans the road, allowing high loads to pass underneath safely.
