Former Ute assistants and years at Utah

Joe Cravens (1989-93) — He filled in as head coach his first season at Utah when Rick Majerus had heart surgery, compiling a 12-12 record. He stayed three more seasons then got a job as Idaho head coach. After three seasons there, he came to Weber State and worked under Ron Abegglen until he took over for the 1999-2000 season. At Weber he has a 103-70 in six seasons, but at 11-15 this year, may experience his first losing season.

Donny Daniels (1989-99) — He left Utah to became the coach at Cal State Fullerton, but he inherited a program that was short several scholarships and could never get it going. So after three years there, he moved across town to become an assistant to new coach Ben Howland at UCLA. He said he has many fond memories of his days at Utah and still keeps in touch with several former players and staff at the university.

Jeff Judkins (1989-99) — After 10 seasons with Utah, he left after seeing his duties as Ute assistant cut back. He caused some consternation among Ute followers by going straight to BYU, where he became the director of basketball operations for two years. In 2001, he took over as women's head coach and immediately led the Cougars to the NCAA Sweet 16. In his fourth season, he has compiled a 74-44 record.

Tommy Connor (1993-97) — He is in his sixth year as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake. His team is 20-8 this year and ranked in the top 10 in NAIA for the first time in school history. Connor's overall record is 121-65 and his teams have won three conference championships.

Jeff Strohm (1997-2002) — He served as a video coordinator for a couple of seasons before becoming an assistant coach at the U. He moved to Marquette and is currently in his third season under coach Tom Crean.

Dick Hunsaker (1998-2002) — Like Kerry Rupp and Joe Cravens, Hunsaker had a stint taking over for Majerus, coaching nearly the 2000-01 season. His team finished 19-12 and tied for the MWC title. He left after the 2001-02 season to become the head coach at Utah Valley State College. In his third season at the Orem school, Hunsaker has compiled a 62-25 record.

Jason Shelton (1999-01) — He coached at Utah for just two years before moving to the University of Colorado, where he still an assistant coach under Ricardo Paton.

Eric Jackson (2000-04) — Like Rupp, he landed at Indiana, where he is an administrative assistant to head coach Mike Davis, working with the strength and conditioning program. Jackson served two years as the video coordinator for the Utes before becoming a full-time assistant.

Silvey Dominguez (2002-03) — He spent just one year at Utah before moving across the Rockies to become an assistant at Wyoming. He is in his second year as an assistant under Steve McClain.

Tom Abatemarco (2003-04) — Also coached for just one year at Utah before returning to Sacramento to be an assistant for the Sacramento Monarchs WNBA team.
