Jeff Weise shoots his grandfather, Police Sgt. Daryl "Dash" Lussier, at his home. Weise then shoots his grandfather's companion, Michelle Sigana.
Wearing his grandfather's bulletproof vest and driving his patrol car, Weise heads to Red Lake High School sometime before 3 p.m. He takes with him two pistols and a shotgun.
Weise shoots his way past a school metal detector, killing unarmed security guard Derrick Brun.
For 10 minutes, Weise randomly shoots people, killing five students and a teacher and wounding seven others.
At 2:55 p.m. police receive several 911 calls about the shooting. They arrive at the school two minutes later.
Police exchange gunfire in a hallway with Weise, who retreats to a classroom where most of his victims lie dead. Weise apparently shoots himself.
