MOAB — A Texas man who pleaded guilty to running over his girlfriend with his car and killing her at Arches National Park was sentenced to up to life in prison Tuesday.

Ricky James Cunningham, 27, of Richwood, Texas, was sentenced to between five years and life for felony murder. He received a consecutive sentence of zero to five years for felony driving under the influence.

Cunningham also was ordered to pay $152,425 in restitution, but it was not immediately clear to whom that should be paid. A call left Tuesday with Grand County Attorney Happy Morgan by The Associated Press was not immediately returned.

Cunningham pleaded guilty to the charges in April in an agreement with prosecutors, who dropped eight other counts against him.

Police say Cunningham was driving the car Aug. 10 that struck Rhonda Rosenbalm, 34, of Seabrook, Texas, at the Moab Fault Overlook.
