Saturday will mark the 120th anniversary of the dedication of the Statue of Liberty, which was a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States. The statue, dedicated on Oct. 28, 1886, is a symbol of freedom, hope and democracy. It was designated a National Monument in 1924 and restored before centennial observances of July 4, 1986.
