Utah senior Eric Weddle is one of 11 semfinalists for the 20th annual Jim Thorpe Award, an accolade presented to the nation's top collegiate defensive back.

The pool of candidates, which includes Antoine Cason (Arizona), Leon Hall (Michigan), Daymeion Hughes (California), LaRon Landry (Louisiana State), Marcus McCauley (Fresno State), Reggie Nelson (Florida), Darrelle Revis (Pittsburgh), Aaron Ross (Texas), Antonio Smith (Ohio State), Tom Zbikowski (Notre Dame) and Weddle, will be narrowed to three on Nov. 20.

The three finalists will then be invited to the ESPN College Football Awards Show on Dec. 7 for the final announcement. A formal banquet to honor the Jim Thorpe Award winner will be held Feb. 12 in Oklahoma City.

Weddle is also a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award (outstanding defensive player) and a quarterfinalist for the Lott Trophy (nation's top Defensive Impact Player).
