Heather Hansen, Utah's television weight-loss star, was disqualified from the final weigh-in on NBC's season finale of "The Biggest Loser" on Wednesday night because she was pregnant.
Hansen, of West Bountiful, was selected along with 15 other finalists from an original set of 50 contestants and was invited to a ranch near Houston to compete at losing weight. Personal trainers and dieticians assisted the contestants through two months of workouts and lifestyle changes. The contestants were then sent home for several months on their own.
With a starting weight of 223 pounds, the 5-foot-5 Hansen, 36, lost 56 pounds at the ranch. She outlasted 10 other contestants but appeared at the final event in Hollywood, Calif., five months pregnant with her second child.
Erik Chopin, of New York, took home the grand prize of $250,000 after losing 214 pounds. Alaska's Kai Hibbard lost 118 pounds, the most weight ever lost by a woman on the show. Mark Wylie of Florida, placed third and lost more than 45 percent of his original body weight.
