Continued from previous column. Ron's personal and Christ like compassion was his genuine trademark. His non-judgmental and calming influence was an example for many to follow. He was certainly not one to complain and always had a positive and humorous (oft times mischievous) twist as he experienced life's obstacles and challenges. One would truly melt in his presence. He genuinely lit up a room! He loved and lived by the phrase "You'll attract more bees with honey than vinegar". He made you feel as though you were his favorite and the only one that mattered. His gracious smile, warm gentle hug, personalized handshake and loving squeeze of an ear will be greatly missed. Ron provided pampering care to a host of cars, boats, motorcycles and airplanes. Many recall his "nine lives" as he survived accidents in all of them - earning him the nickname "crash". He could fix anything with duct tape, rebar and a few makeshift tools. He was larger than life and did it all - and did it with class. Countless good times were experienced on the waters of Pineview, Lake Powell and Lake Mead with family and friends by his side. He loved letting the good times roll by firing up his Harley and getting out on the road. He also enjoyed skiing, tennis, golf and was an avid pilot. Dad took excellent care of himself and was routinely at the health club for his daily workout, always having a gym bag in the back of his vehicle. Jack was married to Jeri Harbertson on June 16, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised three children: Jill, Julie and Brad. Ron married Sandi Pickett on April 25, 1988 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Together they enjoyed a "semi-retirement" and continued the heartfelt acts of loving and giving in their beautiful home they built together in Las Vegas, Nevada. They welcomed family and friends with open arms and warm hearts. They made sure their three yorkies: Taz, Daisy and Candy were well loved and comfortable. Ron and Sandi found in each other the missing piece of their individual lives and continued helping and loving everyone they came in contact with. Ron especially welcomed Sandi's extended family. He provided many memories and became a mentor, guide, teacher and friend. His legacy will continue for generations by giving the gift of himself. The honorable part of this great man's life is he was a loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, grand"pa", uncle and true friend who cared for and supported us in all we did. Ron is survived by his devoted wife Sandi of Las Vegas, NV; mother Laverna Stacey of Riverdale; two siblings, Vern (Fay) Stacey of Ogden; Bonnie (Jerry) Brown of North Ogden; and mother-in-law Pat Keller of Ogden. Also surviving are his three children: Jill (Ron) Stuart of Roy; Julie (Scott) Dixon of Uintah; Brad (Christie) Stacey of Las Vegas, NV; and his 13 loved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, granddaughter Misty, and grandson Ben. Funeral services will be held Sat., December 23, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah.
