Guitarist Christiano Migliore, for the band Lacuna Coil, never thought about the future when he joined the band in 1998.

"When people start a band, they usually do it to make it successful," Migliore said by phone from Atlantic City, N.J. "You hope you will play Madison Square Garden, but we never thought we would end up on tour with Rob Zombie or doing Ozzfest."

That's exactly what happened to Lacuna Coil, which is composed of Migliore, vocalists Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro, bassist Marco Coti-Zelati, guitarist Marco "Maus" Emanuele Biazzi and drummer Cristiano Mozzati. They are currently on tour with Zombie and will perform the Ozzfest dates this summer.

"You start a band, and then you hope it goes well," said Migliore. "And our hope has done things for us."

Lacuna Coil formed in 1994 when Coti Zelati and Ferro began writing songs together. A couple of albums later, and after a few lineup changes, the band was solidified in 1999 when Biazzi joined.

"In the early days there was a lot of touring and no money," said Migliore. "But we continued to tour because we liked playing music. We were always writing new material."

In 2004, Lacuna Coil was asked to make its debut at Ozzfest as a breakthrough band. And it's been with the tour ever since. "We've been connecting with people," said Migliore. "And we want to do as much as possible with the band."

The band's new album, "Karmacode," was released two weeks ago. "We're happy with where we're at," said Migliore. "And we want to get to a point where more and more people will understand what we are all about."
