Federal agents have arrested a woman connected to one of the FBI's Ten Most Wanted fugitives.
The FBI's Salt Lake City field office announced Friday that Maria Cruz Garcia, 44, was arrested without incident in San Jose, Calif. She is the sister-in-law of Jorge Alberto Lopez-Orozco, who is on the FBI's top ten list, charged in the gruesome slayings of three people in a rural area in Elmore County, Idaho.
Lopez-Orozco is accused of shooting and killing three people and then burning their bodies. Authorities said the remains of Rebecca Ramirez, her 4-year-old son Ricardo Ramirez and 2-year-old son Miguel Hernandez were found in a burned out car in 2002.
Lopez-Orozco is believed to have fled the area with his brother, Simon Lopez-Orozco, and Garcia, his sister-in-law.
FBI Special Agent Patrick Kiernan said in a statement released Friday that authorities developed information that Garcia had relocated to the San Jose area. She is being held in the Santa Clara County Jail awaiting extradition back to Idaho.
Jorge Alberto Lopez-Orozco and his brother Simon remain at large.
