Lewis E. Wells 1915 ~ 2007 Lewis E. Wells, born June 15, 1915 in Talbert (Huntington Beach), CA, died peacefully at home Jan. 21, 2007 in Scenic, Arizona. Lew moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1924, was the football quarterback for Las Vegas High School and graduated in 1934. He married Marie Davis in1939 and had three children. She predeceased Lew in 1985. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He retired in 1976 from the Union Pacific railroad after working as a brakeman-conductor for over 30 years. With his stepfather, T.A. Wells, he helped with the original survey of Boulder Highway from Fremont Street to Railroad Pass. As an active scoutmaster, he served the BSA in Las Vegas and Melba, Idaho receiving a 30-year award, inspiring numerous young men to achieve Eagle Scout rank. Lew married Bernita Raff in 1986 and the two traveled from Alaska to Mexico and enjoyed 20 wonderful years together. Bernie was his devoted companion and caregiver for all of his days. Lew is survived by his sweetheart Bernie, children: Douglas Wells - Santa Clara, UT, Steve Wells - Dunsmuir, CA., Jan (Wells) Magner - Salt Lake City, UT, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A viewing will be held at the Littlefield, AZ LDS Chapel Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. MST and Friday, January 26, from 6:30-8:30 in Melba, ID. Interment will be Saturday, January 27, 10 a.m. at the Melba Cemetery under the direction of Heideman Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Boy Scouts of America.
