Layton High School's student production of "Titanic: The Musical" last year has gained an "honorable mention" award in USA Weekend's annual High School Musical Showstopper contest.

National winners were announced in a recent edition of the weekly magazine, published by USA Today as a supplement in several Sunday newspapers.

The grand prize winner was a production of "The Music Man" at Chaffey High School in Ontario, Calif. Runners-up include "Miss Saigon" at West Aurora High School, Aurora, Ill.; "Beauty and the Beast" at Floyd Central High School, Floyds Knobs, Ind.; "Guys and Dolls," Chesterton High School, Chesterton, Ind.; and "Thoroughly Modern Millie," Rye Neck High School, Mamaroneck, N.Y.
