Elmer Johnson 1919 ~ 2007 Elmer's last wish. . . Elmer Johnson's deepest desire and last wish was to be reunited with his beloved wife Mary Coon Johnson who preceded him in death in 1993. Sunday March 11, 2007 Elmer passed quietly from this life into the next at age 87. Elmer, the son of Lilly Farney and Leland Johnson was born April 23, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah. A graduate of South High School, Elmer proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. Elmer and Mary married in 1941 and began a love affair that produced three children; Mark A. Johnson, Stephen (Laurie) Johnson, and Lori (Jeff) Chivers; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A talented craftsman, Elmer owned and operated The Town Studio Upholstery, cutting folding and sewing ten thousand yards of fabric and a hundred miles of thread into beautiful furniture for homes all over Salt Lake City. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A wonderful Dad, Grandpa and friend to all, Elmer will be remembered for his genuine sweetness and good humor. He was loved and will be missed. Godspeed Dad, say hello to Mom for us. A visitation will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 South Highland Drive Salt Lake City, on Wednesday March 14, 2007 from 11:00 to 12:00 PM with a graveside service being held in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at 12:15 PM following the visitation.
