PROVO — Maria del Pilar Nores Bodereau de Garcia, the first lady of Peru, will speak at 2 p.m. Friday at Brigham Young University.
The lecture, which will be in Room 151 N. Eldon Tanner Building, is titled "A Conversation with the First Lady of Peru," and will be presented entirely in Spanish.
An economist by profession, de Garcia was born in Argentina. She became a Peruvian citizen when she married Alan Garcia, the country's Aprista Party leader, whom she met at the Sorbonne University in Paris. She was the first lady of Peru from 1985-90 and is again, as of 2006.
