Chris Vanocur is celebrating 25 years as a TV reporter in Utah — following his regular weekly edition of "On the Record" on Sunday at 11 a.m. on Ch. 4, there's a "Greatest Hits" edition of the show at noon. Those "hits" range from serious to silly — sometimes serious and silly at the same time.
(Remember when Deedee Corradini was mayor of Salt Lake City?)
I've got to hand it to anyone who survives in the same TV market for a quarter century. And there is some excellent stuff in here, from Vanocur breaking the Salt Lake Olympic bid scandal to his trip to the Holocaust museum. There are some funny bits and some that aren't as funny as they were supposed to be.
Slipping into television critic mode, I have just one piece of advice. If you're airing what is in many ways a tribute to yourself, get somebody else to host it.
