Jason Ted Jensen

Jason Ted Jensen died March 15, 2008. There was no one like Ted. He was a gentle giant. Those who knew him loved him - even if they knew him by another name. Ted showed love and acceptance for almost everyone. He found ways to share his talents, his strength, his humor and his heart.Ted was born Sept. 14, 1970 in Salt Lake City. He grew up in Provo, Hawaii, Orem and Salt Lake, graduating from Cottonwood High School in 1989. He was a talented athlete who quickly made friends. His friends and family could always count on his help. Ted served a mission in Ohio. He was an Eagle Scout who enjoyed camping and fishing. He loved to work with his hands, including hours on the guitar and countless sketches. Ted married Sally Hunter July 24, 1992, their marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple. Ted loved Sally from the minute he met her. Ted worked as a welder, a carpenter, a brick-mason, and a set-designer/ builder. Ted fell in love with scenic building at Southern Utah University. His professional work was respected throughout the state in many venues, including the Utah Shakespeare Festival, Pioneer Memorial Theater, Utah Symphony Opera and Tuacahn. Before his death, Ted was working on his teaching degree in vocational arts, special education, and English as a second language. He loved children and animals. He especially loved working with the Scouts. A great teacher and leader, Ted was quick to defend those who could not defend themselves. Ted loved to snowboard, skateboard, swim, surf, bike and bowl - pretty much any sport, no matter how much pain it caused him. We will miss Ted.
He is survived by his wife, Sally; his dogs, Rita and Rufus; his parents, James A. and Kathryn C. Jensen; his sisters, Kristine Jensen, Adrianne Tawa (Toanui), Janette Hoffman (Matthew); and his brother, James P. Jensen (Michelle), and his nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thurs., March 20, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 500 W. 400 N. Friends may call Wed. March 19th, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary and Thurs. at the church one hour prior to services.
