Carl Probert

1930 ~ 2008

Carl Marion Probert passed away July 2, 2008 after losing his valiant fight with cancer. At the time of his death he was surrounded by his loving family. Carl was born July 20, 1930 in Scipio, Utah. He is the son of Samuel Don and Genevieve Alice Peterson Probert. Married to his teenage sweetheart Gloria Rae Hill on June 16, 1950 in the Manti Temple. He attended grade school in Scipio and Millard High School in Fillmore, Utah. He attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Carl was a member of the Sigma Fi Epislon. He studied mechanic classes which helped him in his profession as a farmer and cattle rancher. He was able to fix and operate all types of farm machinery. Carl held many church positions including Scout Master, Ward Clerk for over fifteen years, MIA Superintendent. He was President of the Millard County Stock show for years and participated in the Round Valley Riding Club.

In his later years he purchased a skill saw and spent hours making beautiful table decorations and scrolled end tables.

Carl is survived by his wife of 58 years. Preceded in death by his daughter Margaret Jo Probert. Living children Mary Ann Probert, Jameson, Missouri. Brian Turner and Marci Horner. Carol Jean Mendenhall (Dan), Payson. Kimberly and Carl Cassity. Steven Carl Probert (Leslie), West Jordan. Children Christopher, Peter and Katie Jo. Patricia Sue Schena (Jeff), Delta. Shelby, Michael and David. Also nineteen great-grandchildren. Arlene Probert Memmott (Jay). Byron Probert deceased (Shirley). Richard Peterson Probert (Thelma). Elaine Probert Kirkpatrick (Stewart). Many nieces and nephews who love their Uncle Carl.

Carl was a great horseman and rode on the Booby Hole to round up and separate over two thousand head of cattle. He has too many Cowboy friends to mention by name, but they know who they are. He was a member of the Round Valley Rooster trailer club and camped with them in many places. Member of Beaver Birds Inc in Beaver Dam Arizona and spent great times with his friends there.

Funeral Service will be held Monday July 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Scipio LDS Chapel. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 10:30 a.m. at the chapel in Scipio, UT. Interment will be in the Scipio Cemetery under the care of Rasmussen Mortuary.
