TORONTO — Toronto FC coach John Carver has resigned for personal reasons.

The team says in a release Saturday that assistant coaches Chris Cummins and Nick Dasovic will handle the coaching duties. Toronto FC will host Kansas City on Sunday.

Toronto had an 11-15-10 record under Carver.

Carver raised eyebrows this week when he sat in a private box for Wednesday's 1-0 win over visiting Chivas USA.

The 44-year-old Carver was hired as coach of the Major League Soccer team on Feb. 1, 2008.
