TAYLORSVILLE — A student at Salt Lake Community College was arrested this week after police say he made threats to several members of the college's staff and administration.

"Over the past little while, he (the student) made some statements implying that he 'knows how to use guns' and other threatening statements to some people that work for the college and it made them uncomfortable," Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden said. "Apparently he feels like he has been treated unfairly at the college, whether it be his grades or his schedule, or other things."

Roden said that people at the college have had similar problems with this student in the past which prompted them to contact authorities.

After talking to several members of the staff, officers made the arrest, Roden said.

The case has now been turned over to the district attorney's office, which will screen the case for possible charges.

Daniel Duane Etherington, 34, was arrested Monday for investigation of making terroristic threats, according to the UHP, which provides law enforcement to SLCC.
