After being named the California Young Mother of the Year, Cherry Field's initial reaction was one of fright — she hoped everyone wouldn't think she was \"the perfect mother.\" She has learned, however, that being perfect isn't necessary to being successful.\"Love is critical. You can make a lot of mistakes as long as your children really know that you love them,\" said Field, a Mormon and a member of the Goleta Valley Ward, Santa Barbara Stake.Field, who married her husband, Dave, in 1992 and is the mother of three, attributes much of her success as a mother to the example she received from her own mother, Lee Reid.\"Every single one of my mother's children loves and cherishes children and knows of their intrinsic worth. I attribute that to my mother's example of love,\" she said. Sister Reid is a marriage and family therapist; she was the California Mother of the Year in 2005.After serving twice as a Relief Society president and currently in the ward Young Women presidency, Cherry Field believes the church service she has given, including serving a mission to Scotland, has \"completely\" influenced her motherhood style.
