The world spotlight will be pointed to Vancouver, British Columbia, Feb. 12-28, for the 2010 Winter Olympics as some of the best athletes skate, ski and slide in hopes of winning a medal.
Mormon Times would like to highlight members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who will be competing in the games.
Please send their names, country and the sport they are competing in to MormonTimes@desnews.com or call us at 801-333-7402.
In the 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy, bobsledder Shauna Rohbock won a silver for the United States. Other LDS athletes included Michelle Despain, who competed for Argentina in the luge, Australian snowboarder Torah Bright, luger Werner Hoeger slid for his native Venezuela, U.S. skier Steve Nyman and Canadian bobsledder David Bissett.
So far this year, Rohbock and Bright have been selected to represent their countries in Vancouver as well as Noelle Pikus-Pace in the skeleton for the U.S. and U.S. bobsledders Chris Fogt and Bill Schuffenhauer.
