OREM, Utah — In "Another Testament: Reflections of Christ" the viewer is treated to a behind-the-scenes look at what went into filming this feature film.Shown at the 2010 LDS Film Festival on Jan. 23, the 60-minute documentary is the work of Mark Mabry and Cameron Trejo featuring Robert Allen as Christ.Allen deserves a large measure of applause for his work because without a very sincere and humble man playing the part of the Savior visiting his other sheep, the film would fall flat.Allen stands quietly, reverently as the Honduran villagers who've been asked to be actors in the film come up to hug and embrace him. His expression is loving. His emotions are genuine.Mabry points out that no one is scripted to come forward and the scene is allowed to evolve naturally. As a result, the images are moving and real.Sometimes the film gets just a bit talky but overall, it's a fascinating look at how this story was set up and told.Mabry doesn't dictate what race or particular look is included. He takes suggestions and new ideas when it comes to costuming, hair and makeup."This is a work of inspiration and creativity," said John W. Welch, included in the film as a religion expert. "I've never anything like this before and what the world needs right now is 3rd Nephi. This will be a way to get it out."Camille Fronk Olson and Dennis R. Deaton offer insights as well.Filmed over a week in three areas of the Copan Ruins in Honduras, the story is simple and scripturally charged for an LDS audience because Mormons believe the events actually took place.Jesus Christ visited ancient America and healed and blessed the people there. He called 12 men to serve him as apostles and he taught his Gospel before he returned to his Father in Heaven."It was life-altering (to film this depiction)," Mabry said. The DVD is available at Deseret Book stores.
