1929 ~ 2010
Thomas Evan Robinson passed away April 19, 2010 in Salt Lake City, Utah at age 81. He was the oldest child born to Thomas E. Robinson, MD and Virginia Jeremy Wright Robinson on Feb. 24, 1929 in Salt Lake City. His sibling gang included Pat, Beverly, Joyce, John, Camille, Vicki, Bob, Dave and Steve. He married Vaoma Christoffersen in 1952 and was proud of his six children, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He graduated from East High in 1946 where he played football and was on the state championship track team. In 1952, he graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in business and post graduate work in educational psychology. While at the U, he was senior class president, Alumni Award Committee Chairman and received the ASUU honor award. He was an elected member of the Alumni Board of Directors and continued to serve as graduating class president for 50 years.
He completed an LDS mission to S. Africa serving under his uncle, Evan Wright. He was employed at the U of U Mailing Bureau/Printing Service and later at Fashion Place Mall and Layton Hills Mall. He served as an LDS Chaplain in US Army for 33 years and retired as a Colonel. He was an avid supporter of the Utah Jazz and U of U sports. Tom had a love and concern for all people and valued his numerous friendships he developed over the years including his S. African missionary, Yale Ward missionary, Christmas card and childhood friends.
He leaves a wonderful legacy and a family who loves him dearly; Jan (Jonnie) Knoble; Tom (Adrienne); Ron; Judi; Jon (Melinda) and Eric.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother and sisters, Patsy and Beverly.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 24th, 2010, 12:00 p.m. at the Foothill 6th Ward (Monument Park 4th Ward) 2215 E. Roosevelt Ave, Salt Lake City. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S., and at the church from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to service.
