Jacque Butler accomplished the difficult task of helping to bring an "alternative" type of medicine into the mainstream.

Butler, CEO of North Salt Lake's Medquest Solutions, was a patient taking bio-identical hormones when she announced to her doctor that she was quitting the regimen. She explained that, though the treatment made her feel better, she was tired of never being able to count on consistent product.

That doctor asked Butler if she thought she could do any better, and she said she could. She hired experts in the field, committed to best practices in production and ingredient quality and founded Medquest. And as she saw opportunities to grow the company in ways consistent with its early focus, she took them.

MedQuest Pharmacy specializes in providing customized prescriptions in any dosage, with tailored delivery systems ranging from capsules to gels, suppositories and injections. Nutrascriptives manufactures pharmaceutical-quality supplements, while Medical Horizons focuses on nutritional and herbal products as well as research and development, custom formulation and private labeling.

The company's emedplus software system helps doctors streamline office workflow, while WorldLink Medical offers hands-on, small-group learning experiences for doctors to exchange information and ideas. MedQuest also operates a testing service that provides lab services, including specialty hormone panels.

In other words, Butler's vision of her company as a one-stop shop for physicians specializing in aging issues has come to pass.
