Graduated from University of Utah prior to teaching every grade and becoming a counselor. She married scientist and athlete Wilton Ivie, who died during an expedition for the Museum of Natural History in New York City.

She is survived by her son, Larry, a science fiction artist who created the Peace Symbol; her niece, Marcia Exter; and Marcia's children, Kirk and Kelly.
