FORT DODGE, Iowa — The mother of a man shot and killed by a neighbor in 2001 says a jury verdict finding her guilty of murder is a blessing.

An Iowa jury found Tracey Richter guilty Monday of first-degree murder in the 2001 death of 20-year-old Dustin Wehde.

Richter claimed she shot Wehde to protect herself and her children during a home invasion. Prosecutors maintained there was no home invasion and Richter killed Wehde to keep him quiet about his role in a plot to frame her ex-husband.
