Author, educator and child-care professional Janet Lansbury will speak Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. at Saint Sophia School, 5341 S. Highland Drive.

Lansbury is the author of “Elevating Child Care: A Guide to Respectful Parenting,” which is a compilation of posts from her blog, janetlansbury.com.

Kathy Bringhurst, education director at Saint Sophia School, said in a news release that Lansbury’s remarks will focus on applying respectful parenting techniques and teaching “how parents can set boundaries without shaming, distracting, punishing or placing children in time-outs.”

“We are delighted Janet Lansbury will be speaking at Saint Sophia with Utah parents about her innovative and proven methods for building healthy relationships with our children,” Bringhurst said. “We think Janet’s sensitive observation approach to child care resonates well with our school’s philosophy, which is deeply rooted in inspiring children to learn through experiential learning.”

The lecture is open to the public, but seating is limited. Tickets are $20 and include admission to a reception following the lecture. Call 801-424-1297 or email brian.lampe@saintsophiaschool.org for additional information.
