BYU's all-time leading receiver is getting another NFL audition, reports say.
Cody Hoffman will work out for the Buffalo Bills this week, according to the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson, who cited a source for the tryout information.
The 6-foot-4 rookie signed with the Washington Redskins after going undrafted in May. He was waived by the Redskins on Aug. 24. In two preseason games with Washington, Hoffman was targeted twice but did not record a reception. He also played 19 total snaps.
In addition to six wide receivers on the active roster — led by rookie Sammy Watkins — the Bills have two wideouts currently on their practice squad. Buffalo is 4-3 and coming off a last-second victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
Hoffman set numerous career receiving records at BYU, including receptions (260), receiving yards (3,612), receiving touchdowns (33), 100-yard receiving games (18) and all-purpose yards (5,015).
There are currently three other Cougar rookies in the NFL right now. Linebacker Kyle Van Noy was a second-round draft pick of the Detroit Lions and returned to practice last week after undergoing surgery for a sports hernia. Safety Daniel Sorensen and linebacker Spencer Hadley are on the practice squads for the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders, respectively.
