SALT LAKE CITY — Democratic attorney general candidate Charles Stormont raised a respectable amount of money but not enough to match incumbent Republican Sean Reyes.

Stormont, a first-time candidate, has collected $146,178 since launching his campaign this year, including $65,000 in the past quarter. Most of his contributions the past three months range from $10 to $500, according to his latest financial disclosure form filed Tuesday.

He has spent $129,000 to date and has about $17,000 on hand.

Stormont raised more than twice that of the Democratic attorney general candidate in 2012. He has refused donations from payday lenders, multilevel marketers and other businesses he says receive lots of complaints. His aunt in Texas is his largest donor, giving $10,000.

Reyes, whom the governor appointed to replace John Swallow in December, has raised $386,435, including $104,260 in the past three months. He has spent $275,361 on his campaign to date, leaving a balance of $111,073, according to his financial disclosure form.

Reyes has received some sizable contributions, including more from one organization — $150,000 from the Republican Attorneys General Association — than Stormont has raised in total.
