PROVO — BYU defensive back Dallin Leavitt is transferring to Utah State.

On Dec. 1, the Deseret News’ Dick Harmon reported on Twitter that Leavitt had informed BYU coaches he intended to change schools.

Leavitt took a visit to Logan last weekend and Wednesday he chose to become an Aggie. Utah State head coach Matt Wells broke the news on Twitter saying, “Want to welcome Dallin Leavitt into the @USUFootball family!!!”

Minutes later Leavitt confirmed the news on his own Twitter account saying, “Officially signed as an Aggie!”

Leavitt was a regular on the BYU defense, recording 43 tackles and 1.5 sacks during the 2014 season.

Due to NCAA transfer rules, Leavitt will have to sit out a season before he suits up for the Aggies.
