Zac Blair completed perhaps the finest golf week of his life Sunday by shooting a 1-over-par 71 to finish in a tie for 40th place at the U.S. Open golf tournament at Pinehurst, North Carolina.
The 23-year-old Ogden native, who played four years at BYU, earned by far his largest professional paycheck of $37,754 by finishing at 9-over-par 289.
After bogeying the first hole, Blair made birdies at holes 5 and 9 to make the turn at 1-under-par 34. On the backside, he bogeyed holes 10 and 14. He played in the same twosome as 2010 U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell, who shot 70 and finished two shots ahead at 287.

Blair is competing on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica, which is taking the summer off, but will resume in September. Through the end of May, Blair had made the cut in six of seven tournaments and ranked No. 17 on the money list.
