SYRACUSE — A Davis County Sheriff's deputy and a woman were both hospitalized Sunday after the deputy collided with a Dodge Durango while responding to a medical call, Syracuse Police spokeswoman Officer Erin Behm said.
Neither the deputy's nor the woman's injuries are believed to be life-threatening, Behm said, and the remaining passengers of the Durango were not injured.
The collision occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of 700 South and 3000 West in Syracuse, Behm said.
The deputy was traveling east on 700 south with his siren and warning lights activated when he struck the Dodge Durango, which was traveling south on 3000 west carrying a male driver, a woman described as in her 20s, and two children, ages 8 and 6.
"They just happened to cross paths," Behm said.
The Durango was pushed onto the front lawn of a residential property, Behm said, and the deputy was reportedly experiencing shoulder pain before he was transported to Davis Hospital and Medical Center.
The woman was transported to McKay-Dee hospital, Behm said, but the extent of her injuries was unknown.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
