SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Utes have picked up a 2016 recruiting commitment from Troy Williams, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound quarterback from Santa Monica (Calif.) College.

Williams is a former Los Angeles area high school star who began his college career with the Washington Huskies. He redshirted in 2013 and played in five games (starting one) last year, completing 23 of 36 passes for 179 yards with two interceptions and no touchdowns.

Through five games this season at Santa Monica, Williams has completed 98 of 150 passes for 1,582 yards with 15 touchdowns and four interceptions. He’s also rushed for 133 yards and six scores.
