PROVO — Just two days after earning his 250th victory as BYU’s head basketball coach, athletic director Tom Holmoe announced that Dave Rose has agreed to a new five-year contract.
The deal will keep Rose with the Cougars through the 2019-20 season.
“I’m excited about the future of BYU basketball,” Rose said. “Tom Holmoe, Brian Santiago and the university administration have provided great support, and I look forward to the things we can accomplish together over the next several years. We have great student-athletes and coaches at BYU who are committed to the success of our program.”
The Cougars have won 20 games or more and have played in the postseason in each of his previous nine seasons.
“I appreciate all that Dave has accomplished over the past decade as head coach of our men’s basketball program,” Holmoe said. “He is an incredible leader and one of the best coaches in the country. Dave does things the right way, on and off the court. We are excited about the future of the basketball program.”
In his 10 years at the helm, Rose is 250-86 (.744) and has the highest winning percentage in BYU history. He is second only to Stan Watts (371) in career wins with the Cougars.
