WASHINGTON TERRACE — A 32-year-old mother killed in her apartment late Friday was identified Sunday as Lindsay Brown Holbrook, according to the Weber County Sheriff's Office.
Her family, in a statement released by the sheriff’s office Sunday afternoon, said: "Lindsay was a loving mother, amazing aunt, wonderful sister, and she had an incredible sense of humor. She is loved by a lot of people and will be greatly missed."
Holbrook’s body was discovered shortly before midnight Friday when officers went to the Woodland Cove Apartments, 374 E. Ridgeland Drive, to investigate a hit and run accident involving Holbrook’s car.
The car was registered to Holbrook but had been driven by a man when the accident occurred near 3000 Washington Boulevard. Police went to Holbrook’s apartment to talk to her. When she didn’t answer the door for an extended period of time, officers entered apartment and discovered her body.
Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Lane Findlay said Saturday that Holbrook suffered apparent trauma, and her cause of death remains under investigation.
Police determined the woman's car was being driven by Lyle Robert London, 38, of Ogden. He was later arrested at a house in Ogden and remains in the Weber County Jail for investigation of aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, abuse and desecration of a human body, and unlawful possession and use of a financial card.
London is an "associate" of Holbrook, and "it is believed that he murdered her in her apartment and then tried to conceal the crime,” Findlay said Saturday. London apparently used some of the victim's financial cards and completed several fraudulent transactions, Findlay said.
Evidence recovered from the victim’s car and a witness’s account of what happened at the scene enabled police to identify and locate London.
London's wife, Shuree Laness London, 35, also is being held in the Weber County Jail for investigation of obstruction of justice because she allegedly "had knowledge of this crime and assisted Mr. London after the fact," Findlay said. She had been staying at a hotel near 1400 S. Washington Boulevard, according to police.
According to court records, Lyle London has pleaded guilty to several misdemeanor charges dating back to 1999, including possession of drug paraphernalia, intoxication, simple assault, interruption of a communication device, criminal mischief, theft and various traffic violations.
Shuree London pleaded guilty to theft in 2010, as well as several traffic violations.
The family has asked for privacy as they grieve and make funeral preparations, the sheriff's department said in a statement.
