Lindsey Stirling's father, Stephen Stirling, published a response on his website Wednesday to what he calls the "Adventure of the Billboard Dress."

The "adventure" began last week when Stirling, a dancing violinist and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, received disapproving comments on her Instagram account after posting a picture from the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards. The lined, cut-out dress she was wearing in the picture disappointed some fans. The YouTube sensation responded to the criticism in an Instagram post, saying "modesty is important" to her.

Her dad is the latest to express support for Stirling, asking fans to remember the "real story of Lindsey Stirling."

"We all know who Lindsey Stirling is," Stephen Stirling wrote on his website. "She wears her religion on her sleeve and is perfectly willing to let the world know why. She has a testimony of the goodness of God and is not afraid to share it."
