In this photo by Aaron Favila, a girl tries to keep herself warm as she wades in floodwaters in the coastal village of Malabon, north of Manila, Philippines. Typhoon Chan-Hom was passing over the northeastern waters of the Philippines and heading to northern Taiwan, dumping heavy rains over the capital, Manila, and the northern provinces. The Philippines suffered flooding and mudslides last weekend from Tropical Storm Linfa, the fifth storm to hit the country this year and the first after a long, dry summer. Southeastern provinces in China were alerted about possible flooding and severe weather this week from both approaching storms.
