David Archuleta spoke and sang last week at a devotional for missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in New Zealand, according to a video from the Pacific Mormon Newsroom.

The devotional was held Aug. 12 in Auckland and included talks by Brad Wilcox, a Brigham Young University professor, and Elder S. Gifford Nielsen, a member of the Pacific Area Presidency.

"Music is a way I can share my belief in Jesus Christ,” Archuleta told the missionaries, according to the Pacific Mormon Newsroom.

The former "American Idol" finalist sang an unaccompanied version of "Come, Come Ye Saints," including a verse in Spanish in honor of his grandmother and his own LDS mission in Chile.

"I'd like to pass along the message in this song to all of you," Archuleta said. "I hope that you can remember and take to heart what these words say."
