The home of Chauncy Webb is on Granger Street in Nauvoo, Illinois, just north of Parley Street. Next door is the Webb brothers' blacksmith shop. Chauncy was one of the brothers who operated that business.

He was born in Hanover Center, Chautauqua County, New York, in 1812. He married Eliza Churchill in Kirtland, Ohio, in September 1834 and was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints two months later. He served as a member of the Quroum of the Seventy while in Nauvoo. He was able to receive his temple blessings in December 1845, shortly before the exodus from Nauvoo began in February 1846.

As wagon builders, Chauncey and his brother, Edwin, did much to assist the Saints as they prepared to journey west.
